Everybody who’s active on Instagram knows – Teatoxing, i.e. detoxifying the body by drinking special blends of tea, is all the rage right now. More and more companies are producing herbal teas that are supposed to increase energy levels, help you lose weight, improve the appearance of your skin and reduce bloating – so all in all little miracle cures that will improve your overall quality of life.
The lovely girls from Your Tea, an Aussie company that heavily advertise on social media, kindly sent me their 14-day Tiny Tea Teatox pack, so that I can not only convince myself of the benefits of one of their most popular blends, but also tell you all about my personal experiences during those 14 days.
Your Tea recommends eating a healthy, balanced diet and engaging in regular exercise while doing the Tiny Teatox (they even offer a 14 days eating plan), but as I wanted to be able to observe the effects of the Teatox alone, I decided NOT to introduce any other changes to my lifestyle at the same time (although I’m obviously trying to eat healthy and exercise regularly anyway).
Tiny Tea is mainly made of the following Chinese herbs: Oolong Tea, Jue Ming Zu, He Ye, Shan Zha, Lai Fu Zi, Chen Pi, and Mai Ya, but if you were hoping to see a full list of ingredients, I have to disappoint you. Although the package does mention that the tea contains gluten (there’s also a gluten-free version available), the other ingredients sadly remain a mystery.
Drink the tea three times a day 30minutes before or after a meal to help your body with bloating, indigestion, problematic skin, cellulite, excess weight and low energy levels. As I’m generally sceptical, when products promise amazing effects like these I decided to start my 14-day Teatox with no expectations whatsoever, and just sea how it goes.
The smell and taste needs a little getting used to, but as I’m super experimental when it comes to tea anyway, I didn’t mind it at all. I actually grew rather fond of the taste after a while. If you make sure to brew it no longer than 7 minutes, the taste is really smooth and subtle, making the tea go down exceptionally easy. I personally preferred to have the tea after a meal, as I felt that it would calm my stomach, aid digestion, and thereby reduce bloating immensely. Although I haven’t actually experienced any weight loss, my stomach has definitely felt a lot happier and flatter.
While I do believe that the Your Tea Tiny Teatox had an overall positive effect on my body and increased my energy levels, it is definitely no miracle cure. Combine it with a balanced diet and regular exercise, and I’m sure you will see results after a while. But whatever you do, don’t expect to look like a super model after a 14-day Teatox 😉
