I usually integrate my food and restaurant ramblings into personal style posts, my focus lies on the fashion after all, but when you find yourself in a place as fantastic as Wild Food Cafe, you just have to dedicate a full blog post to it.
Tucked away in well-hidden and oh so magical and colourful Neal’s Yard, Wild Food Café, a unique and extremely atmospheric raw-centric food restaurant focuses on plant-based vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Remember how I told you how extremely picky I can be with the food that I make for myself at home? Well this place ticks all of those boxes and more.
Most of the ingredients they use are sourced from independent suppliers and organic producers, and all dishes are made daily on the premises with an extra portion of love and care.
The restaurant itself reminds me of a huge communal kitchen from the 70’s. An open kitchen is surrounded by around 10 big tables (prepare to get cozy with strangers), the walls are randomly decorated with psychedelic pictures and the whole atmosphere is very happily hippy. The staff is smiley and friendly, but a little prettier than it is attentive. Just give them a big wave and they’ll come over straight away though 😉
The menu is concise, but extremely interesting. Christina and I chose to share the Living Bruschetta with new season cherry tomatoes, creamy avocado, shallots and basil, and the I love Ewe sandwich with unpasteurised sheep cheese from Neal’s Yard dairy, caramelized onions, Dijon mustard, gherkins and tomato. Both dishes were absolutely heavenly and full of flavour.
For pudding we then opted for a slice of raw Chocolate and Berry Tart each. This cake was was so creamy and rich…better than any processed chocolate cake and completely guilt-free. Both Christina and I struggled to finish our slices, but because the tart was so good, we each demolished the whole thing and left extremely happy and with very full tummies. It’s safe to say, we will be back and eat our way through the whole menu in no time…next time I’ll opt for one of the colourful salads or maybe the Wild Pizza Special? Or maybe just both…
Will you be joining us?
