What Defines Us turned one, and I missed it. Exactly one year and three days ago my baby celebrated its very first birthday, and I completely forgot about it. Not even the fact that my life is still a super turbulent rollercoaster ride can excuse the fact that I managed to forget my blog’s birthday. Or can it? I’d love to think so…Anywho, what is done is done, so let’s have a look at some of the highlights of the past year, shall we?
It all started one year ago with a girl trying to set foot in the blogging sphere with a tripod in one hand and camera in the other. Just one month later she participated in her first blogger competition, and, believe it or not, managed to win together with the lovely Charlotte from Lurch Hound Loves. And that was the beginning of something wonderful.
Winning that competition not only allowed little Jasmin to get to know the fabulous girls from Fashionchick.uk, Kavita and Rebecca, I’m talking about you, and connect with brands like Reiss and House of Fraser, but also to meet many other bloggers she’s now lucky enough to call her friends. Oh and let’s not forgot about the fabulous boat cruise to Greenwich and the view from the Shard Jasmin and her mama bear were able to enjoy thanks to boohoo.com. What then followed can only be described as a serious of a lot more exciting firsts: first press day, first collaboration, first fashion week, first catwalk show….the list goes on.
When Jasmin found out that Fashionchick was organising yet another blogger competition, this time sending four lucky bloggers from Holland, Germany, France and the UK to Mercedes Benz-Fashion Week Amsterdam, she decided to try her luck again. And as fate would have it, little Jasmin managed to win the public voting, and was sent to Amsterdam to experience her very first Fashion Week. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences a fashion-obsessed girl could ask for.
Soon enough it was time for London Fashion Week – yet another exhilarating and completely surreal experience. Jasmin saw Anna Wintour and some of her favourite fashion bloggers in the flesh, and was even photographed by the Urban Spotter (although those pictures never made it onto his site…boohoo). Even though things on What Defines Us have calmed down since then, and Jasmin is no longer living in London, she’s super excited to see what the future holds for her and her blog.
But what is a blog without its readers? Some of you have been following What Defines Us from the beginning, and others have only recently stopped by for the first time. No matter what category you may belong to, I am grateful for every single reader, every single visit, for all your support, love, hugs, and kind comments. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world knowing some of you in person, and I’m eager to meet even more of you in the future. Thank you guys for being part of this journey. It’s been a real blast so far!
