How do you guys and girls motivate yourself on a shitty day? It’s raining, you’re not feeling well, you’ve just gotten some really bad news and all you want to do is hide underneath your duvet all day. We all have those days, but I’m sure we all handle them slightly differently.
Some of us may use those days to be productive and finish off neglected chores or the dreaded assignment for university. Why? Because once we feel better we have all the time in the world to have fun and meet friends.
It’s good reasoning, but it doesn’t work for me. When I’m not feeling so good my head becomes all cloudy and slow, and I find it incredibly difficult to concentrate on something other than staring out of the window.
On good days, on the other hand, my brain works super fast and I get things done in no time. So what do I do on a bad day then? That’s when I have fun and surround myself with people that cheer me up.
It can be super tempting to just shut everyone out and wallow in self-pity (believe me, I’ve been there too many times), but that usually doesn’t solve anything; it just prolongs the healing process – unless, of course, you drown yourself in work and distract yourself like that.
So every time I feel like I will never laugh again, I go out and do things I enjoy with people I love. But I refuse to do my hair and makeup…I’m a firm believer in looking like sh** when feeling like sh** #SorryNotSorry
