Today is a very special day for me in so many ways. It’s a Sunday (duuhh), the beginning of meteorological spring, the start of a new sartorial season, and the first official day at my new job here in Germany (although I really only start tomorrow). To commemorate all those wonderful beginnings I created a look with my top 4 picks for a banging spring wardrobe – one pick for each special occasion.
If you’ve followed my blog for a while now, none of the chosen items should come as a surprise to you. They’ve been firm favourites of mine since last spring, and are, luckily, still as trendy this year as they were last year. So if I ever had to commit to wearing only one style per clothing category it would be the following…
Top – Turtleneck: I can’t get enough of the turtleneck. Whether long-sleeved, short-sleeved, without sleeves, made of silk, cotton or chunky wool, the turtleneck is that one item in my wardrobe that is always appropriate and fabulous. There is something about a high neck top I just cannot resist…especially after seeing Portia de Rossi’s Character Veronica in Better off Ted. Her high neck game is so strong!
Trousers – Culottes: Ahh…culottes. Is there a better feeling than generous legroom in cropped trousers? After wearing culottes all summer it has literally become super difficult to force myself into skinny jeans; mentally, not physically, I might add. They’re just too restricting…ok, I feel like I’m sounding like man with huge junk right now, but fact is, I love the mobility and flexibility culottes provide. Over and out.
Footwear – Sneakers: Sneakers are a no-brainer. They’re comfy, they’re cool and whenever a situation gets uncomfortable, you can just run away without looking super awkward…possibly…
Outwear – Boxy coat: I love the silhouette boxy coats create. It’s so high fashion. Although the coat I’m wearing is boxy and kinda flowing at the same time, it will be my go-to outwear piece in spring. It literally goes with everything I own, and if that isn’t reason enough to love it, I don’t know what is.
